What to Expect from a Prism Insight Assessment

Prism Insight is our structured discovery process. It's the work we do before recommending any solutions, because the right solution depends entirely on what's actually happening in your operation. Not what someone suspects is happening. Not what the data suggests from a distance. What's actually happening on the floor, in the systems, and across the workflows that connect them.

From site visit to final deliverable, the typical turnaround is 1-2 weeks. You'll walk away with a prioritized roadmap, ROI projections for each recommendation, and a clear picture of where your operation stands today, whether you continue working with us or not.

A Comprehensive Look at Your Operation

Most improvement efforts start with the area that's causing the most visible pain. But problems in one area often trace back to root causes in another.

With our Prism Insight framework, we evaluate eight dimensions of your supply chain operation. This structure ensures we examine the full picture, not just the symptoms that prompted the initial conversation. We can also look beyond the four walls of your warehouse. Yard operations, dock management, automation integration, and the systems connecting these spaces often hold the leverage points that create real operational lift. A bottleneck in yard flow doesn't show up as a warehouse problem until you trace it back. The same applies to how your automation layers into existing workflows. We assess the entire ecosystem your operation runs through.

Dimension What We Examine
Safety Audit frequency, incident tracking, compliance gaps
Operations Process SOPs, visual management, workflow efficiency, automation capability
Inventory Management Accuracy rates, reorder logic, carrying costs
IT & Systems KPI visibility, system integration, data accessibility
Network & Logistics Network Design and Optimization, Logistics plan, Yard management
Talent & Culture Performance management, roles and responsibilities, training and development, communication
Financials Labor costs, margin tracking, indirect cost visibility
Customer Experience Response times, service consistency, retention factors

Each dimension receives a score based on our findings, along with specific observations and recommendations. This scoring creates a baseline you can measure against as you implement improvements.

How the Discovery Process Works

The assessment moves quickly from on-site observation to actionable insight. This engagement sits within a larger implementation lifecycle, where discovery informs strategy and strategy shapes execution. Turnaround depends primarily on facility size and complexity. A 100,000 square foot single-site operation moves faster than a million square foot campus or multi-site engagement. In most cases, you'll have findings in hand within one to two weeks of our site visit.

Before We Arrive

We start with a brief alignment call to confirm scope and priorities. Even though we evaluate all eight dimensions, you may have specific concerns you want us to examine more closely. This is the time to surface those.

We'll also request baseline data ahead of the visit to streamline analysis. Depending on the situation this may include:

  • Inventory records (current counts, turnover data, aging analysis)
  • Order profile with transaction history (volume patterns, order types, customer mix)
  • Latest KPI reporting (throughput, accuracy, cycle time, labor productivity)
  • System documentation (WMS configuration, integration points, user workflows)
  • Organizational structure and staffing levels across key functions

Having this information ready lets us focus our on-site time on observation and conversation rather than data collection.

On-Site Assessment

The site visit itself takes one to two days depending on facility size. Our team conducts walkthroughs and observes your processes in action. We interview operators, supervisors, and managers to understand how work actually gets done versus how it's documented.

We review your systems to assess data accessibility and KPI visibility. Where are the gaps? What information do operators need that they don't have? We gather what we need to complete our analysis off-site.

Analysis and Deliverable

After we leave your facility, we digest the data, identify patterns across all eight dimensions, quantify improvement opportunities, and build your prioritized roadmap. This analysis and synthesis phase is where we translate observations into specific, actionable recommendations with projected ROI.

Within one to two weeks of the site visit, we present findings to your leadership team. You'll see scores across all eight dimensions with the specific observations that informed each score. More importantly, you'll receive a prioritized set of recommendations segmented into quick wins and strategic initiatives.

What You'll Receive

The Prism Insight deliverable is yours to keep regardless of whether you continue working with us. This isn't a teaser designed to lock you into further engagement. It's a comprehensive assessment that stands on its own.

Your deliverable includes:

  • Assessment Report. Scores across all eight dimensions with detailed findings. These are specific observations backed by data, not vague generalities about "room for improvement."

  • Prioritized Roadmap. Recommendations organized by impact and implementation complexity. You'll see clearly which opportunities offer the fastest payback and which require longer-term investment.

  • ROI Projections. Each recommendation includes estimated financial impact. These projections are based on the data we collect during the assessment, not industry benchmarks that may not apply to your operation.

  • Clear Next Steps. We distinguish between improvements you can tackle internally and areas where external support adds value. Some recommendations won't require Prism Solutions at all. We'll tell you that directly.

Who This Is For

Prism Insight works well for operations leaders in a few specific situations:

You suspect there's improvement potential but need data to prioritize. You know things could run better. You may even have a list of potential projects. But you're not sure which ones will deliver the biggest return or where to start. The assessment gives you the data to make those decisions with confidence.

You're preparing for growth, system upgrades, or facility changes. Before making significant investments, you want a clear baseline of where you stand today. This helps you measure the impact of changes and avoid carrying existing inefficiencies into new systems or facilities.

You are experiencing a change in leadership. As your organization undergoes a leadership transition, this product provides new leaders with a rapid understanding of how the operation functions and equips them with a practical toolkit to shorten the learning curve.

You've tried point solutions but haven't seen expected results. Maybe you've implemented new technology or revised processes, but the improvements didn't materialize as expected. A comprehensive assessment can reveal why, often uncovering dependencies or root causes that weren't addressed.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much time will my team need to dedicate during the assessment?

Not much. Someone will need to pull baseline data before we arrive and coordinate access during the 1-2 day site visit. Stakeholder interviews run 30-60 minutes each, and the final presentation takes 60-90 minutes. Outside that final meeting, no one loses more than half a day.

What if we already know where our biggest problem is?

That gives us a useful starting point, but we still evaluate all eight dimensions because problems rarely exist in isolation. Clients often confirm their primary concern while also surfacing two or three adjacent issues they hadn't connected.

Do you need access to our systems during the assessment?

Most data needs can be exported by your team and provided ahead of the visit.  No integrations or admin credentials needed. On-site, we observe what operators see on their screens and how information flows through your systems.

What happens if the assessment reveals we need solutions you don't offer?

We tell you. The deliverable includes all findings regardless of whether they point toward services we provide. The roadmap is built around what's right for your operation, not what's convenient for us to sell.

Can Prism Insight be scoped for multiple facilities?

Yes. Multi-site engagements take longer, but the methodology scales. We can provide both site-specific findings and cross-facility patterns. Timeline depends on whether you need simultaneous assessment or a phased approach, which we'll scope during the alignment conversation.
